Pamela Kaval
Pamela Kaval is a multi-award-winning filmmaker, actor, screenwriter and author based in New Zealand. Her storytelling seamlessly blends a deep commitment to nature with her passion for film, a journey inspired by her research in the Galapagos Islands, where she wrote her first picture book. This experience led her to explore diverse genres, including comedy, drama, family-friendly stories, thrillers, and documentaries.
Pamela’s short films have received over 50 awards and 150 nominations at domestic and international festivals, including 8 personal awards for her work in acting, screenwriting, and producing. She is currently focused on developing feature film scripts and acting while running Youth Filmmakers Workshops that teach children the entire filmmaking process from script to screen. In addition, she serves as the Youth Program Manager and Festival Economist for the Misty Flicks Film Festival. Before her film career, Pamela was an environmental academic, editor, and park ranger, with over 100 publications on sustainability and biodiversity. This rich background informs her work, providing her with a distinctive voice in the industry.
